TO FRIENDS OF THE PARK DISTRICT:
The continuing success of the Coloma Township Park District depends upon imaginative and innovative actions on the part of its citizens.
Our needs are greater than our resources. We therefore seek help from our citizens in order to continue to deliver a well-balanced parks and recreation program.
Giving to the Park District has been a tradition in Rock Falls. Since its organization in 1925, the people of the Rock Falls area have given over 100? acres of land to the Park District. Many of our beautiful parks today were gifts of raw land yesterday.
This gifts catalog is presented to you as an idea book. Select an item that interests you and consider it as a gift to your community. Your time, your talent or your treasures will be appreciated.
THE PLEASURE OF GIVING
There is great personal satisfaction in giving to an organization that you admire and enjoy. Many people have found that satisfaction through the Coloma Township Park District. It has been reflected in many ways through the years.
As a memorial to family members or other friends.
As a wish to preserve a natural area.
As a desire to provide a special facility to the community.
As an expression of gratitude from a successful business to the community, that has supported it over the years.
As a way to be remembered in the future for an act of generosity today.
A gift of land is a living gift.
For some, a gift of land is a way to preserve a cherished natural resource and for others, it can be a memorial to recognize a loved one or a close friend.
A gift of land will provide a heritage for all our children. Land stewardship through the gift of a park will improve the quality of life in the Rock Falls community.
A development and/or maintenance endowment can also be given to assist in park construction and/or Future Park cares.
The Coloma Township Park District accepts gifts in the form of land, trees, cash, stocks, bonds, life insurance and personal property from individuals, businesses, community organizations and foundations for the purpose of enhancing existing programs and facilities or providing new facilities and programs.
In the case of donated trees the type and location will be mutually agreed upon by the Park District and the donor. The district will replace any healthy donated tree, which fails to survive for two years with a tree of like type and size.
B. The District reserves the right to liquidate personal property to cash assets if in the district's opinion the property has no significant historic or artistic value.
C. Memorial gifts and gifts greater than $1000 in value may be identified with an appropriate bronze plaque. The cost of the plaque must be included in the gift. The district will determine the best location and method of installation. The district also will pay the cost of installing the plaque.
Gifts are always recognized. Appropriate certificates, permanent plaques and even naming a park or facility in honor of the donor are various methods that have been used.
Encouragement is given to those who wish a personal involvement in the gift process. Please call the Director for any assistance you might need. Strict Confidence will be maintained if that is the wish of the donor.
YOUR GIFTS ARE APPRECIATED
As stewards, The Park Board and staff will insure that your gifts are well managed and will be available for the enjoyment of all.
Any gift given anonymously will be kept in strict confidence.
The district recommends that individual donors of high value gifts consult the Park District attorney or accountant in regards to percentage of charitable deductions.

Volunteering time and knowledge can be a special kind of gift which benefits everyone. It is a people-helping-people opportunity. Youth activities, conservation programs and cultural improvements are all available to the volunteer. A Park District volunteer will meet new and interesting people and gain experience, leadership and organizational skills.
Volunteer assistance is needed at various events and at many park locations.
TREE RELOCATION PROGRAM
The Coloma Township Park District offers a program of tree relocation of larger trees from locations throughout the community. According to Park District Director Michael P. Sterba relocation of larger trees adds instant shade and beauty to an area in the Parks that otherwise would take years to accomplish. Relocation and transplantation of larger trees is now becoming much more popular and attractive to Park Systems such as ours. For approximately the cost of a small 1 1/2" - 2" diameter tree you can relocate a 15' - 25' tall 8" diameter tree anywhere in the park system. Sterba also pointed out that the Park District first acquires the trees either through donation or at a nominal fee and then finds a community minded person or organization willing to pay to relocate the tree. Tree accessibility on the donor’s property is essential due to the size of the semi tractor tree spade required to remove it from the ground. Size, shape, and health of the trees are also considered in transplanting larger trees so that every chance of future survival and beauty of the tree is maintained. Individuals who have trees that they might be interested in donating should contact the Coloma Township Park District Office at 625-0272.
